The Aged Care Industry faces challeges like never before with scrutiny from regulators, press, government, and general public perception; increased expectation from consumers, clients and families; challenges of staffing; aging population pressures;
isolation, depression and the inability for people to connect with each other; funding challenges; increased COVID requirements and restrictions; and compliance and risk management requirements.
Older Australians dont want to move into aged care homes. They want to be treated with respect and dignity and where they need some help, be able to access that help living as normal a life as possible. Aged Care Homes have the challenge of meeting these needs without becoming a hospital environment. RTLS technology can help with meeting this challenge.
Smart Technologies enhance the client experience and the service provider's ability to deliver it.
Implementing smart systems help address many of these challenges
With our technology partner Sonitor, we have mobilised nurse call. While this may sound simple, giving residents freedom to move around their residential home with complete peace of mind that help is on call wherever they are, is a revolutionary experience in aged care. We have removed all of the hardwired buttons from walls and given the residents a location wearable that allows residents to call for help anywhere including outside areas. This is a much more home like experience and staff also know where they are in real time.
We have the ability for service providers to know their 200 care minute kpi's out of the box and give the opportunity to tailor services to residents based on real measured data. Staff are no longer wandering around looking for equipment and other staff as their location is as simple as a search on a mobile app.
Implemented around the world including Australia, in both health care and aged care settings, the combination of Sonitor location technology and Zulafly software has given Life Care (now Opal Health Care) the ability to respond quicker to resident calls for assistence, enabled greater freedom to move around and engage with other residents, reduced falls and created a more home like environment for people needing the assistance of an aged care home. Life Care even unlocked the doors of its memory support units allowing residents with dementia full access to the whole home. This is a much more diginifed approach to care for people needing this additional help.
