The City of Salisbury in northern Adelaide is a progressive council looking to manage its many assets in a strategic way using smart city technology.
This project is one of many smart city intiatives that the council is understaking and is initially designed to gather data about the utilisation of the 160 playgrounds that the council is responsible for managing across the local government area.
Featherstone Consulting is assisting the assets team within the council to design and procure a technology template of smart city sensors to understand how playgrounds are used, including the number of people visiting, the time they stay and how often the spaces are used. This data will be used to develop a smart city asset management strategy for playgrounds and will build a capabilty for the council to measure and plan for investment in its public assets into the future.
